As an independent name, Freddy (also Fredy or Freddie) is to be found above all in the English language area. It developed from the German first name Alfred and is supposed to mean «peaceful ruler». At the same time the Freddies are much stronger than they look, which was the reason why our men’s plant Echeveria got this name. The plant is not very big. But when it comes to endurance, it' s a great class. Hence the meaning: «Small but mighty».
